Technical Marketing Engineer

AOM is going beyond being a company that delivers holograms to measure the world’s most challenging freeform surfaces to one that also provides complete solutions that address customer metrology needs through their entire product life cycle, from design to prototyping to volume production. The Technical Marketing Engineer will play a key role to tightly integrate hardware, software, and metrology design services to make high-accuracy, easy-to-use, affordable CGH metrology the gold standard in asphere and freeform optical testing.

The Technical Marketing Engineer is a technical expert, consultant, analyst, designer, and program manager who provides technical support for AOM’s CGH metrology products and solutions.

Responsibilities may include: participating in product development, representing the customer’s technical needs, creating competitive analysis from a technical perspective, developing and presenting technical product training materials. You will have the opportunity to help resolve customer’s technical questions as well as participate in customer’s visits and presentations.

Optical Engineer

We’re looking for a bright, energetic optical engineer to join the team developing custom metrology solutions that include computer modeling, interferometry, and precision mechanics. This is an ideal position for an early-career candidate as we expect the successful engineer will develop expertise in the following:

‣ Optical modeling in Zemax, including macros and linking extensions
‣ Computer programming in a combination of Matlab, C, Java, and Python
‣ Interferometric optical testing, including test setups, making measurements, and reducing data
‣ Precision inspection and metrology, including designing fixtures, CMM programming, and reducing data

The successful candidate will have background that demonstrates ability and inclination to develop this expertise and the drive to join the team developing innovation metrology solutions to meet customers’ needs. Job requirements are a BS degree in optics, engineering, or mathematics, at least 2 years practical experience in a related field, and strong programming skills.

 


Optical Technician

Responsibilities include maintenance and operation of clean facilities for R&D and production of optical assemblies; handling, aligning, and bonding sensitive optical components; operation of precision metrology equipment including interferometer, surface profiler, CMM;  operation of software and writing reports for data analysis; operation of standard machine tools and metrology for making simple metal parts.

Job requirements are 2 years relevant employment with extensive hands-on experience with optics; willingness and ability to learn software for instrument control and data analysis.  Additional highly desired skills include CAD design, advanced machining skills, experience cutting, grinding and polishing glass, and computer programming.

 


Software Engineer

We’re looking for a bright, energetic Software Engineer to join the team developing custom metrology solutions that include computer modeling, interferometry, data processing, and statistical analysis. This Software Engineer is a technical expert, designer, developer, project manager, team member, and customer advocate, who provides leadership for the development, distribution, and support of AOM software tools and applications. The Software Engineer interfaces with other AOM scientists and engineers as well as our valued customers to understand and document requirements and use cases leading to robust, efficient, and scalable software tools and applications. Key responsibilities of the Software Engineer include:

        • Improving existing software tools by understanding metrology application and optical design processes, studying current production software solutions, and identifying opportunities to increase program efficiency and speed
        • Developing new software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users (internal and external), and studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes
        • Investigating problem areas
        • Following the software development lifecycle
        • Developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code
        • Improving operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures
        • Protecting operations by keeping information confidential

The successful candidate will have a background that demonstrates ability and the drive to join our team developing innovative metrology solutions to meet customers’ needs. Specific critical skills include:

        • Computer programming in a combination of C/C++, MATLAB, Java, and Python
        • Data analysis skills, including statistics, noise reduction, polynomial fitting, etc.

Education and Experience Requirements

        • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
        • 5+ years of professional software development experience
        • Proficiency in Java or C++ required
        • Proficiency in MATLAB or Python preferred
        • Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
        • Experience serving as technical lead throughout the full software development lifecycle, from conception, architecture definition, detailed design, scoping, planning, implementation, testing to documentation, delivery and maintenance is preferred
